Join Naturalist and Ethnobotanist Erin Kenny in this monthly series designed to excite your senses, give you a new appreciation of nature and allow you to discover the rich variety of unique northwest plants, including their fascinating history as edibles and medicinals.
Erin will entertain and guide you on a nature walk each month, weaving stories about the plants that are featured as the season changes. You will learn how to safely forage for these plants and we will collect some to prepare into food or medicinal remedies that you will be taking home each month.
Although each class involves some preparation of herbal remedies, such as tinctures, infused oils, and salves, the base plant material will change with the season, providing you with an opportunity to create your own unique local remedies medicine chest. You will also be provided with fun culinary ideas for incorporating these plants into your lifestyle.
The classes meet each month on the lovely forested five acres of Camp Terra on Vashon Island and are held completely outdoors, regardless of the weather. Come to one or come to all!
